The 24th season of Rockem Sockem
Something funny will go here…maybe.
2025 6th Annual Sockies Awards
For the 24th year in Rockem history we had another dandy. Until the last month things were close, but that is when the cream rises to the top and Jay Moon was creamy this year. Moon took over with a huge season from Judge powering him forward to his third Catalina Cup. Eeet's a Boat is now floating in CT as Moon revels in another victory.
Oh what could have been for 2nd and 3rd place. Fatone led for the majority of the season this year but faltered down the stretch and could not seal the deal on his first championship. While most people would love third place and eating for free, but not BK who is going to stew and see this as a missed opportunity (those CG's on a bench are costly).
Tom had a strong season with solid managing as did Jeff, finishing 4th and 5th respectively. McNally went the other way, a solid team that left too many innings and unplayed games on the table to make a serious run. Mike brought up the back half of the league but was light years ahead of the bottom five. Commish never got it going at all, finishing 8th, Neezer spent the summer in the backwoods of Colorado and forgot about baseball, Vig made a run but then crashed back down towards his basement, and Bull just seemed confused. Birdie missed the draft and apparently missed the season as well.
That's it, 24 of these in the books. Amazing. Thanks everyone for continuing to do it. Much love and see you in 25. Awards from the season are below:
2025 Sockie Awards:
MVRSFP - Judge. Moon.
Like in real baseball this one was pretty close, but when Moon sealed the victory in Rockem 24 Judge sealed his Sockie. Hell of a year for both. A few others got looked at here, particularly Cal Raleigh who just couldn’t dump big enough for Fatty. Cal was 4th, as Fatty slipped to second and the always amazing Shohei was ranked 2nd overall (for hitting) but couldn’t get Bull out of 11th.
Rockem Sockem CK - This one was a two man race Tarik Skurbil (8th) Mike. Just literally edging out Crochet (10th) McNally. Both top ten seasons are super impressive. Also should give a shout to Skenes who was not far behind in Skenes 12th (mike), Evoladi (Bull) 20th in only 130 innings, perhaps SP’s are back on the menu at the top of the Rockem draft. This is Skurbil’s second CK in a row. Impressive…now let him sign for the Mets.
The Zeddemore Poles Coach of the Year Award - Jay Moon. Honorable mention to Tom, not fatty who hung on too tight and bad news to BK who could have used a few of those CG’s he left on the bench.
The Eric Hinske Memorial Biggest Bust- Oneil Cruz Tom. 3rd round pick, ended the season as not even an every day player 228 overall. Other options Mookie underperformed, Gunnar wasn’t great most of the year, Austin Riley was very bad pre injury. Jackson Merrill, and last year's surprise Ozuna both stunk bad. Pitchers, Dylan Cease and McKenzie Gore who somehow only got 5 wins.
The Nomar Broken Everything Award: Yordan Alvarez. My lord did I want to give this Sockie to Fatone and Zack Wheeler. August 15th. Don first place, Wheeler goes down, Dogzilla really could not get it together post Wheeler deserves this right? … Unfortunately for me when looking at the stats, Don’s pitching actually held up when Wheeler went down, it was his hitting that failed him. Yordan deserves it for a wasted year. 165 at bats ranked 933 overall, lost season. I only got 2 points from HR’s, second to last in HR’s, needed him.
EE Late pick easiest Sockie on the board or is it??!? It is. Raleigh Fatone 12th round pick #143 overall. Finished 4th overall. The pick we all dream about…big butts. What I didn’t realize though was how good of a season the runner up for this award was as Raleigh just edged out Springer with Tom 6th overall! 18th round pick #213. Eovaldi 18th round as well Bull, May have won it if not hurt for sept.
The Cliff Lee Award FA pick up: Perdomo 12th overall april 10th BULL Another amazing season I guess I wasn’t aware of until these awards. Bull got Perdomo and never looked back…at the only team behind him, Birdie in 12th. Other mentions Stowers Fatty april 23.kurtz Mike Tevor Rogers BK.
Nobody….beat it.
